Cordoba High Volume Dove Hunting
High-Volume Dove Hunting in Cordoba, Argentina
Cordoba, Argentina, has earned a world-renowned reputation as the premier destination for high-volume dove hunting. Visitors are consistently amazed by the sheer numbers and massive flock sizes. In this region, bag limits are non-existent, allowing hunters to fully experience the exceptional shooting opportunities that the area provides.
When it comes to dove hunting in Cordoba, it’s often said that you have to see it to believe it. Until you’ve experienced it firsthand, the sheer volume and speed of the doves are hard to imagine. For first-time visitors, the sight of thousands of doves in flight is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
Our lodge is situated just 15 minutes from the Macha Roost, the largest dove roost in Cordoba. This roost alone is home to an estimated 20 million doves—a number that continues to increase each year. Many hunters visit for the thrill of shooting these fast, high-flying doves, a challenge that keeps them coming back year after year.
With a total dove population exceeding 50 million, no bag limits, and a year-round open season, Cordoba remains a premier location for dove hunters from around the world.
The Golden-Eared Dove: A Unique Target
The primary species hunted in Cordoba is the Golden-Eared Dove. While it shares some similarities with northern hemisphere doves, it is unique in several ways. Notably, the Golden-Eared Dove reproduces at an astounding rate—up to 5 or 6 times per year, with 2 to 3 eggs per nest.
The region’s rich agricultural lands and established irrigation systems provide a perfect habitat, offering abundant food and water. Because of this ideal environment, these doves are non-migratory, making Cordoba an unrivaled high-volume hunting destination year-round.
Over 30 years ago, the Argentinian government officially designated the Golden-Eared Dove as a “pest” due to its destructive impact on crops. High-volume dove hunting is not just permitted but actively encouraged as a form of crop protection for local farmers. With no bag limits, hunters can shoot as much as their skill and endurance allow—whether that means a few hundred shells or several thousand rounds per day.
